Mel Brown's woodworking projects.
I began wood working around 5 years ago (1998) when our house was being built. It has
become a good hobby for
me to work at in between our mission trips. I get most all my wood free from a friend
of mine which really helps.
Some of the wood used, like the picket fence bed, are wood scraps from the house when it was
being built. Let's use it, not burn it.
I attend the Alabama Woodworkers Guild each month when I can. I get a lot of
good ideas
and help from this group of woodworkers. They meet every third Thursday at
6:30 p.m. at the
Homewood Seniors Citizen
Center in Homewood.
Take a look at their website,

This is a utility box for my Dodge van.
The top and bottom have through dovetails. My first.

I used Nara wood for the panels from the Philippines in the blanket chest
and bed headboard.

I made 4 of these bookcases for our 4 children. What a job! The first one
was fun then the work began. Ha!
The picture on the right, I helped start this bookcase with my son Nathan. He
did most of the work and it looks great.

Our grandkids, Ben and Jennifer Keenan made these toys for the Children's
hospital in B'ham

Jennifer made this birdhouse which holds nick-nacks for her Mom.
